Environment and Planning set to accelerate surveying consultancy’s growth in Tewkesbury

It’s been non-stop for the new Environment and Planning Service at Dalcour Maclaren, the chartered surveying consultancy acting solely for the utility and infrastructure, since the opening of its new office at Brockeridge Park last November.

In January, Allison Pritchard joined the business as Director to head up the team. She, alongside the growing team, have been settling into their surroundings at Tewkesbury’s leading business park and preparing for a busy year ahead.

According to Allison, “We’re expecting utilities and development planning to form the bulk of our work. On the utilities side, we would usually expect to become involved with projects at the outset to give planning and permitted development advice. Depending on the scale and sensitivity of the projects, sometimes we need to provide further advice and assistance with respect to Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). EIA’s can lead to a range of further technical work as well as triggering more in depth consultation and negotiation with key stakeholders to facilitate planning consents.”

“On the development planning side, our planning specialists have already been busy assisting clients on a range of issues. More strategic work includes whole estate reviews, pre-application requests, site promotion and local plan monitoring to enhance the value of client landholdings ready for development or potentially disposal.

The team can also provide much more, including a full range of environmental advice from ecology and protected species surveys, to archaeology, flood risk, arboricultural surveys, and much more.

Allison continues, “There’s been so much interest in our work that we are already looking to expand with recruitment of two new EIA specialists and two archaeologists to work alongside the current team, and our fantastic new offices at Brockeridge Park are sure to help in attracting the brightest talent.

“It was a classic case of ‘location, location, location’ that encouraged the business to select Brockeridge Park for this office. Its proximity to the M5 growth corridor and national motorway network, as well as its high-quality rural setting make it the perfect choice. As a company we’re growing fast – this is our eighth office – and we particularly like the fact that there is room to grow here.

“We tend to choose office locations based on their rural qualities, as they make great working environments for the staff and an interesting place for our clients to visit.”

The Environment and Planning departments will boost Dalcour Maclaren’s ability to provide an even more rounded service to clients. Using their in-depth knowledge of client objectives, the business delivers an unrivalled level of service, not just in terms of capital and maintenance schemes but also with opportunities in property portfolio management, disposals, and potentially development.

The whole Environment and Planning team has a genuine understanding of clients’ needs which helps to create a pragmatic dialogue with stakeholders that ultimately delivers credible solutions. The team utilises their vast experience to ensure an innovative and commercial, pro-development approach to environment and planning matters. Using this client-focussed approach from its Tewkesbury base, Environment and Planning is set to become an essential element to the advice Dalcour Maclaren provides.
